I’m Donovan Mills, a haircutting specialist and co-owner of Hideaway Salon in West Hollywood. I cut hair dry because it allows me to see what the hair naturally wants to do… how it falls, where the cowlicks sit, and how it grows. Instead of forcing shape into the hair, I work with its natural movement and growth patterns.

Over the years, I developed my own triangle-based cutting method and curriculum built around intentional sectioning and precise weight placement. This approach creates balance, movement, and structure that lasts. My haircuts are designed to grow out clean for months while maintaining their integrity.

The goal isn’t just a beautiful result in the chair, it’s a haircut that lives well. I call it “Wake and Shake.” A shape that falls into place without effort, complicated styling routines, or fighting your texture. Hair that works for you, not against you.

In addition to working with clients in West Hollywood, Manhattan Beach, and Santa Barbara, I teach this method to stylists who want to strengthen their technical foundation and elevate their craft.
